Opening Day starter Jarrod Parker is likely to miss the start of the season because of a forearm injury; Parker will visit orthopedist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Monday. And A.J. Griffin, the team’s No. 4 starter, will see Dr. Doug Freedberg in Scottsdale today because of elbow discomfort.
Both Oakland and Atlanta now have two potential new surgeries as well.
I have a hard time chalking up that many injuries to luck.
Parker was drafted out of high school but he spent 3 seasons in the Arizona system so probably came pre-broken. Who knows. I'm trying to think of the other broken pitchers right now and am drawing a blank.
It's seems that the A's treat starters as fungible assets with some sort of endless supply only they seem to be able to access.
