Hey, remember that time Sonny Gray threw eight scoreless innings against Verlander?
And of course Sunny Gray is just a great baseball name. I think if your last name is Gray and you call your kid Sunny, as a parent you have mapped out greatness.
Gave away two tickets for tomorrow's game to my waiter tonight. Was a huge A's fan. See y'all tomorrow Oakland Crazies. #letsgoOakland

Sonny Gray seems like a meteorological oxymoron
Of course "Colon blows save" would be an annoying headline.
I went to school with a girl named Anita Colon,
I don't think there's much difference between Gray and Colon (who has been great since his brief DL stint) starting, but I think the A's may regret not having Gray in the bullpen.
Ya if Gray can relieve and Bartolo can't (although he says he will if asked) due to his elaborate preparation routine, why not have Bartolo start and Gray relieve?
I wonder if the (possible) next series doesn't play into it. They really like Gray at home, and I think they'd be a lot more comfortable having Colon/Parker pitch at Fenway than Parker/Gray.
Fearless prediction: if it works, Bob Melvin is hailed as a genius who risked the A's playoff hopes on a hunch.
If it doesn't work, Bob Melvin is reviled as an idiot who risked the A's playoff hopes on a hunch.
Pulling Straily yesterday probably was also.
Apparently his back was acting up? But only between innings. (this according to the mighty Susan Slusser today)
The A's needed to hit less, so Straily could get back into the game quicker, so he'd pitch longer, and then they would have won. Anybody could see that, Bob Melvin!
Are they not allowed to let the SP keep warm in the bullpen? I've always wondered why that never happens in long innings.
Apparently it's considered "showing up" the other team....at least that's what Adam Wainwright said about why he didn't do it in Game 1 of the NLDS vs the Pirates.
