Yeah, me too. I was so excited, I was already passing the links to friends as soon as Jose Reyes joined the party.
There's no sound effects, or back ground music,
You might want to check your computer settings, because I heard music and sound effects in the video.
You're right, there is BGM, but I had my speakers up to full and its still hard to hear. That's an issue with the video.
And saying that its not Final Fantasy inspired is just trolling. The battle system is ripped directly from FF1, the overview map he has shown mimicking follows the layout from the NES Final Fantasy games as well. I see no Mario, Fire Emblem, Metroid, or any other NES references. The sprites he did rip off are directly from FF1 as well. There wasn't even a ####### Kung Fu reference.
Seriously Tripon -- something's wrong with your computer or your speakers.
As for other NES (or SNES) references, The Gregg Zaun fight reminded me of fights from Earthbound (in terms of attack selection, not graphics or menus or anything). He's like an updated version of Earthbound's "Annoying Reveler" with Zaun's insensitive tweet attack replacing the annoying reveler's grumbling about today's youth and lecturing attacks.
Is Hemingway's a famous bar?
Seconded, can any Jays fans summarize the Zaun stuff?
And from an objective outsider position, post #19 is weird; that link is boring and clearly the Blue Jays guy was trying to do something very different.
Regardless of how the 2013 season plays out, this year's Blue Jays model will be foremost among our thoughts -- either as the "it" team for the campaign to come or as the most conspicuous flop in recent memory.
or as the most conspicuous flop in recent memory

some guys were 7'5 perimeter shooters (Meatball Head was the best of that class), others were 5'3, 300 pound guards with max dunking capabilities
If this is going to become an Earthbound discussion, then I want in.
Genesis was just so much better for sports games.
These plus Madden Football absorbed a ridiculous amount of my time. And L'Empereur for NES.
Did anybody else ever play Earl Weaver baseball or Pea Shootin' Pete on the PC back in about 1990?
The only problem was that the guys I played with were huge hockey fans and ridiculously good so -- they'd either toy with me, or, on the rare occasion I beat them -- they'd get seriously pissed and start tossing controllers.
I sold the games on ebay for a few bucks apiece, but imagine my surprise when Earthbound went for a cool $80.
Holy ####, you're not kidding. $230 for "acceptable" on half.com
Fire Emblem for the 3DS is essentially this, although with perma death.
