If you'd prefer to use Garciaparra at short and move Reese to third, Sport McAllister slots in at first base. I chose not to do that, though, because McPherson is a much better player than McAllister was.
So, I'm going to an Air Force reunion in Minneapolis in 2 weeks. I'd like to take in a Twins game and see Target Field, but they are playing the Astros. I don't know if it's worth it.
Aramis Ramirez for (not THAT one )Bobby Hill.
edit: I forgot they got Lofton too.
Dan you probably don't have an easy way of looking this up but who is the best player NOT to be the birthday team's starter at his position? 44 bWAR is awfully good not to be the starting shortstop. I would think he'd be on a pretty short list.
It almost has to be Frank Thomas (73.6) sitting the bench behind Jeff Bagwell (79.5), but I don't know for sure.
Others that come to mind: Ernie Lombardi (45.9 WAR) probably sits the bench behind Mickey Cochrane (52.1) and Jim Bottomley (35.4, in the HOF) backs up Dolph Camilli (42.6, not in the HOF).
