In addition, the voters from 1969 were probably just old enough to remember watching Traynor but not Baker. That's a guess, as there was only a 13 year age gap between them. Sort of like being old enough to see Evan Longoria but Chipper Jones was before your time. I find it hard to believe that someone who as an adult watched both of them play could possibly pick against Baker, stats or no stats. Frank just stood out as a star among his peers to a far greater extent than Traynor did.
