That's apparently the equivalent of $3000/mo today (http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=400&year1=1964&year2=2013), which for a 19 year old out of HS who hit .204 in his first season and .222 for his minor league career with no appreciable secondary skills, seems like a pretty decent payday.
But I got them and took them home at the end of the season. I was so proud. I thought I was hot (stuff).
He also had to walk to his assignment in Class D Lethbridge 2,800 miles away in two feet of snow. AND HE LIKED IT!
But it was downhill, so he's a wimp too!
