He also won a college national title
That was a loooong time ago. Melo is the new Sidney Wicks.
He was the best player on a team that made it to the WCF.
Between now and July free agency, the Love pursuit will be part of New York's hard sell to Anthony
He's been in the NBA 10 years. He's made it out of the first round exactly twice.
Harden is out tonight and Lin is getting the start at the 2. I fully expect either 30+ or a 6+ TO night
According to @EliasSports, Tony Wroten is only player since 1970-71 to record a triple-double in first career start.
The Nets have allowed 96.6 points per 100 possessions with KG sitting and 107.6 when he's been on the floor, roughly the difference between a top-three defense and Sacto's league-worst outfit.
@Matt_Barnes22: I love my teammates like family, but I'm DONE standing up for these ######! All this #### does is cost me money..
Adrian Wojnarowski ?@WojYahooNBA 6h
So Matt Barnes gets fined for ejection, tweeting in-game and tweet content, right? "He always gets his money's worth!" ex-teammate texts me.
And then this tweet, which he deleted:
I haven't seen updated numbers, but he was -15 tonight so it's probably not gotten any better.
Is there a simple explanation for what is happening?
He's been slipping some, but this is flaming wreckage off a cliff type stuff.
Though the Knicks haven’t yet reached the tax status as “repeat’’ offenders, they are so far over the luxury-tax threshold, the last few spots on their roster are costing them a fortune. Each additional contract dollar is taxed by a ratio of 3.25. The Knicks’ payroll stands at more than $87 million and the tax threshold is $71.7 million.
Hence, the Knicks are paying [Chris] Smith his minimum contract of $491,000 and have to pay the league’s escrow account an additional $1.6 million in luxury tax, equaling about $2.1 million. Because of a favorable quirk in his contract, the whole sum became fully guaranteed on opening night.
New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith appeared to threaten Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Jennings on Twitter in response to Jennings questioning whether Smith's brother, Chris Smith, belonged in the NBA.
On Wednesday, Jennings sent out the following tweet, which was later deleted: "Wait wait wait JR smith brother is in the NBA but @PoohJeter & @BBROWNLAU isn't. Call me hater but not Rollin!!!"
Shortly after the Knicks' win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, J.R. Smith responded with a tweet appearing to threaten to send his "street homies" to Detroit, presumably to confront Jennings.
Smith also wrote that he had "no respect" for Jennings.
MJ raised some eyebrows today when asked to pick a squad to play any other. So he picked Akeem, Worthy, Pippen and Magic to play with himself. ESPN asked Avery Johnson to challenge that and he picked LeBron, Kobe, Bird, Duncan and Kareem.
I think Avery wins. Couple of homer picks by MJ there.
In Melo's defense, he's played quite well - and thrived - on USA basketball and under Coach K. Thibs is an assistant on that team now (Boeheim, too). Boozer plays less defense that Melo ever has and he's never had a problem with Thibs.
I didn't think the Howard/Asik pair would work, but I never anticipated this. Morey has to be burning up the phone lines trying to work a deal for him.
At this point I'd be more comfortable pointing the finger at Wittman. If you can't finish around .500 in this terrible conference with Gortat/Nene/Beal/Wall/Ariza/Webster/Harrington, then I don't know what to tell you. That's (obviously) not a Finals contender, or even a contender to get out of the 1st round, but that rotation is, to me, clearly better than Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, and the other contenders for the 7th and 8th spots.
A 2-6 record is about what you'd expect from a .500-ish team given their schedule so far.
