Cardinal announcers and I'm sure the fans are saying the same thing, but I hate that. You are denigrating the opposition when you say that in my opinion. The best response is that the other team has done a great job of keeping our offense down. The Braves pitching, and the Pirates pitching has beaten the Cardinal bats. It feels like they went cold and all, but it just doesn't seem 'sportsmanlike' to blame it on cold bats and not give credit to the opponent.
he Pirates can probably find some good value picking up flyball pitchers coming off bad years in small parks.
The waxing probably took a little bit out of him.
I'm OK with the A's deal. Green looked over matched, especially defensively, so it may be that he's going to have to shift even further down the defensive spectrum at some point. I don't think that much of Callaspo, but it gives them the option to rest Donaldson and Lowrie on occasion, or shift Lowrie to 2B against LHP without being forced to start Adam Rosales.
Frieri blows another save against the Rangers
Without drilling into the crosstabs, I'd bet even money that part of this is just regression to mean for the Cards on hitting with men in scoring position. If I recall correctly, they were way out on the far margins of effectiveness on that early in the year, and "clutch hitting" is shown repeatedly to not be a sustainable skill set.
