This is probably late, but Elliot Johnson's interview after his game winning triple is tremendous. I can't link to it from work, but google it.
Balfour walks Jackson on four pitches. Three of those pitches were basically to the identical spot. At least one of them and probably all three should have been called strikes.
I think my math is right here, and if so, David Ortiz has not had a hit in his last 56,823,856 at bats.
To continue my string of posts that are off the mark, I was about to post that Gio was gonna run off the rails but he retired the side to prove me wrong. Maybe there is hope yet for the Nats?
Will be at the Sunday game in Arlington, 2pm, forecast of sunny/98°F …
And I like the Nats chatter on this board. Not that I like the Nats (former Expos fan here) but the cheering for a .500 team that is 13 games out entering Sept is quaint. (But not impossible, considering Atlanta has the lead, and a 13 man roster.)
Barring the unforeseen, the Nats won't be making the playoffs this season, but they can salvage something from this disappointing year and hope it carries over to a new manager in 2014.
Then, maybe, we will see Optimisteric
Yes, and also that is not impossible, 10 games back of the flagging Pirates.
Cleveland is 0-18 with RISP in the series in Atlanta? Wow.
The Orioles have the lead but Tillman is on the mound, so, uhm, they will blow it soon as he leaves
Pirates? The Nats aren't chasing the Pirates, they're chasing the Reds.
If we somehow manage to sneak into the WC or even make it a serious race, I'll change my name to Effervesoteric.
