The team is 18-16 under Sandberg, despite some amazingly haphazard lineups. That might not sound like much, but it works out to 86 wins over a whole season, which, in case you hadn't noticed, would have been an improvement.
Therein lies the danger, if the organization thinks this team is an 86-win team right now. The team's now 18-18 under Sandberg, but they've been incredibly lucky to be playing .500 ball in that span. If my math is correct, the Phils have a -30 run differential (139 R, 169 RA) under Sandberg.
