Hasn't Victorino said he will go back to switch-hitting when he's healthy?
Maybe he'll go back to switch-hitting to protect his health. He's been hit about once every 10 plate appearances as a righty on righty this year (he's averaged about 1 HBP every 75 PA as a switch-hitter).
I honestly hope he doesn’t avoid this black mark, because I would love for AA to have to tell him “you posted the lowest OBP by anyone in the last 45 years JP, you’re not getting a raise” in the arbitration hearing.
On a couple of those HBP I've seen him lean into the pitch. Not "I'll let it hit muscle instead of bone" leaning, but "hey, that pitch might miss me if I don't get in its way" leaning. I'm not thinking the HBP frequency is giving him any health concerns.
