Plus, I think Middlebrooks can be ok.
I think he’ll be a plus (defender) at third base, but at short, maybe slightly plus.
McCann was asking for 5/75 so 4/70 ought to be a deal.
I hope that the author realizes that this isn't giving him "a slight nod at third base." A C+ SS is way more valuable than a B or B+ 3B, assuming equal offense (and since we're talking about a single player, it's hard not to assume that.)
Eh, either or then. But that 5th year is going to be super ugly.
Would a team like Boston, which has a perennial DH, really be a good fit for McCann? I imagine that he's a type of guy you would want to rest in the DH spot 2-3 times a week.
Actually, while I generally dislike the idea of signing a 31 year old catcher for a long time
and the Sox have a hole at 1B
Sox still have two first basemen.
And Lavarnway makes Salty look like Yadier Molina.
But pretty much nobody but the pen under-performed last year
Also true of Napoli, his one monster year excepted. If $13 M or so is OK for Napoli (bad hip and all), then $15 M or so for McCann's not unreasonable.
