With that said, let's get back to something we can all agree is hilarious.
The stage where we are with soccer in this country, and also the stage with a lot of American players that are actually in Europe, is a stage where there’s a lot of education still necessary. A lot of them were not introduced — and it’s not their fault — they were not introduced yet to what it means to perform consistently on their own personal highest level. They think: “What I do off the field is no big deal. I know how to perform on the field.” But they can’t read themselves yet, and say: “You know what? That was only an 80-percent performance.” The player thinks it was a good performance. I come as a coach and say, “No that was not good enough.”
They were not benchmarked, really, in the past, and that’s why I came in and said: “Your benchmark should be higher. Clint Dempsey, your benchmark should be a championship team. That’s your benchmark, not Fulham.” All due respect to Fulham, obviously. Wherever you are right now, that’s not really your benchmark. If you really want to become a so-called exceptional player, your goal should be a Champions League team. Your goal should be, within a Champions League team, to become a leader. Your goal should be winning a competition like that. At the end of the day, you want to get to the World Cup and get a couple of rounds further than you ever did before. That’s the level of the Champions League. If you want to go to the World Cup quarter or semifinal one day, you’ve got to perform with the best out there. And the best out there play the Champions League in Europe.
Fox Soccer Channel is dead.

I'm guessing that you don't know that Bastia played in a UEFA Cup Final then, either.
• The matches will be split into 13 different packages, with 12 ordinary packages including three group matches and one knockout round (round of 16 or quarter-final), and one package for the semi-finals and the final;
• There will only be a maximum of one venue per country, meaning one stadium for each of the available 13 packages. Both semi-finals and the final will be played in one stadium; and
• Each association will be allowed to present up to two bids, one for the ordinary package and one for the semi-finals/final package. Each national association can decide to present the same city for these two bids or two different cities.
Spurs have a new emergency keeper.
Hopefully they let some of the smaller countries host and just don't make Paris/London/Barcelona/Milan/Moscow, etc. the venues.
Jonathan Wilson has got to be trolling us.
Yet nearly universally hated by Europeans. There is definitely a cultural divide on this issue. Maybe we're just used to our favorite teams playing in big events in far off places.
Utterly immaterial. This is about being a great host city.
Liverpool continues to have serious social and economic issues. There's no way that throwing money at Everton would be a wise use of the city's limited resources.
I've been watching this VVV vs AZ Alkmaar game and, no joke, Jozy looks very good. Klinsmann has to figure out a way to build an attack around him. He's done it all in the game.
My scout in FM just recommended that I sign Nile Ranger.
My scout in FM just recommended that I sign Nile Ranger. Ick.
Hazard has been charged with violent conduct by the FA. My guess is he's looking at 5 games instead of just the 3.
The KHL is probably the closest thing to a North American setup in a major European league (though it is interesting to note that its all Russian predecessor had promotion and relegation). That said, I don't think we will be seeing Torpedo holding up Nizhny Novgorod for a new rink anytime soon.
