Also, Negredo and Jovetic? Have you no shame?
So, would you rather have Rooney or Juan Mata and cash? I still rate Rooney but he also seems like the kind of player who will be old at 30 and Moyes clearly doesn't like him. Why not take that deal?
Man U wants Ronaldo AND Bale
Also on the flip side, what's with Mourinho's seeming willingness to get rid of Mata? It's been rumored in a number of places.
Mourinho: "Ivanovic, Mata & Luiz are not leaving. We are not a selling club. We are not Arsenal."
I'm now inclined to think Mata wasn't included in the offer. We're all reaching for some reason why Utd would turn down that deal, and none of them are very good (especially my own). It makes more sense to think it was a cash only offer.
Every football journalist in the UK was dying for Mourinho to come back, right? It's like he's a cyborg quote machine.
Mourinho was asked whether Chelsea had bid for any other player. "No, and we won't," he said. It was subsequently put to him that it must be Rooney or bust. "Yes," he said.
Here's a weird one...there's a rumor going around that Tottenham have agreed with Wigan for a fee for James McCarthy.
TBF, why should he worry about the bank balances of Mourinho or Moratti or Real Madrid?
A lot of outlets are reporting Marquinhos to PSG is finally done. That puts PSG's spending already this summer at north of 100 million Euros. Platini's Qatari pals are making a mockery of his FFP project.
I wonder if they would flip Guidetti to Spurs? It will be near impossible for a young player to ever break into that side.
Is the future of Italian club soccer something like La Ligue? Worse?
Edit: I mean Ligue 1, of course.
I think the Bundesliga is a better comp for Italy than Ligue 1. There's the big bad wolf at the top, who can muscle everyone around, and every other team is going to get picked over by scavengers in a hurry.
Any DC United/76er fans with any insight?
Lambert must be great at sweet talk.
I'm disappointed as a Spurs fan
I never know what the #### Paul Lambert is saying.
While it is true that they gleefully dominate the strongest economic region in the country, it isn't as if there isn't money elsewhere in Germany. What is true is that many of those affluent rivals have been saddled with hopelessly run football clubs in recent decades (I'm looking at you, HSV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Koeln, even Duesseldorf). Add to that clubs like Dortmund and Schalke, and you have a group of contenders that is at least as strong as their Italian counterparts (especially given the fact that the Germans all benefit from stadia that the Italians can only dream about). The question is whether any of the clubs can put together the combination of investment and management that would be needed to wipe out Bayern's current advantage. That's more difficult, in part because the 50+1 rule effectively eliminates the oligarch "solution".
Replacing Villanova with Tony Pulis would be an interesting scientific experiment.
Dark horse Tony Pulis isn't on the board yet.
If Barca called, would Sven listen?
Of course AVB leaves. I mean the opportunity to coach Messi and Neymar and Bale for the rest of their careers?
