..but what kind of as4hole uses a handle like "Retardo". Classy. Very classy. Maybe he thinks his kind of
moderns will abort them all out of existence soon, so its OK.
Krauthammer is a a favorite
No matter how many times I hear the phrase, "There's no accounting for taste," there will always be some things I just don't understand.
I've never known any German to speak of, but my understanding is that "kraut" means "cabbage" in English
Interesting. I wonder how it got attached so to cabbage over here? Sauerkraut uber alles, I suppose.
Hard to say. A-Rod's got many faces here, often pulling in opposite directions:
The sissified wrist-slapper who shouts "I got it" at infielders going after popups
The OPS God
The (temporary and fraudulent) clean living counterpart to Bonds
The victim of Jeter's selfish refusal to move to third in deference to his superior defensive skills
The celebrity chasing centaur who lies every time his lips move
The victim of steroid hysteria
The playoff choker who perennially ruined the Yanks' postseason chances
The unfairly maligned postseason performer without whom the Yanks would've been doomed in 2009
The deer in the headlights
The symbol of player greed
The symbol of irrational jealousy and hatred of wealth
Am I missing anything?
MILWAUKEE — A former college classmate sued Ryan Braun, saying the Brewers slugger sought his help in fighting a failed drug test, balked on paying him and then disparaged him when asked why their friendship soured.
Ralph Sasson, a Milwaukee law student, said Braun's agent hired him in November 2011 to do legal research aimed at clearing Braun after the left fielder tested positive for steroid use. The agent later asked him to investigate the man who collected Braun's urine, Dino Laurenzi Jr., and Braun personally asked him to prank call two journalists working on a story about the failed test, according to the lawsuit filed last month in Milwaukee County court.
Those Germans--they have a word for everything.
Inquisitions now, inquiries later.
Yahoo! Sports wrote that Braun tried to curry support with players, including Tulowitzki, the Dodgers’ Matt Kemp and the Reds’ Joey Votto, by alleging that Dino Laurenzi Jr., the sample collector, was anti-Semitic and a Cubs fan.
“He never say anything like that to me or asked for my support,” Tulowitzki said after reading the story on Monday.
“I talked to him throughout the whole process. It was more as a friend. It wasn’t anything more than that. He never tried to change my opinion on the subject or anything like that. It was more of me saying, ‘Hey, how is this going? Is this taking a toll on you?’^”
Since Braun agreed to the suspension, Tulowitzki said that he and Braun have texted but not talked, and the two have remained friends.
"I've previously said we are friends, and I've talked to him throughout the years many times," Tulowitzki said. "We kind of came up together, as far as in the same Draft, and kept in contact. I talked to him throughout the whole process. It was more as a friend. It wasn't anything more than that.
"He never tried to change my opinion of the subject or anything like that. It was more, 'Hey, how is this going? Is this taking a toll on you?'"
Of the allegation that Braun made accusations against sample collector Laurenzi, Tulowitzki said, "That wasn't our conversation. It was more just catching up. He never even said, 'Can you support me?' or anything like that. It was more, 'The truth will come out.'"
Aha! That must be how he knows it's a Jew!
"I'm half Hebrew and half German, and a Lutheran".
I was waiting for a circumcision comment...
as much influence on her life as Bob Tufts does on mine.
your posts contribute to my lack of work productivity ...
It would be quite helpful if there were separate terms for ethnically Jewish and religiously Jewish. It would avoid the cognitive dissonance around such identifiers as "Jews for Jesus" and "Hebrew Catholics".
Not quite. They celebrate Jewish holidays, and observe some of the additional Jewish (small c) commandments, to the extent they don't conflict with Catholicism.
It's an interesting effort to preserve the ethno-cultural elements outside of the religious context.
(Well, except "the most wonderful to ever happen to Esoteric" -- my term, not hers.)
It's an odd world to live in for her: she's proudly Christian, but also extremely proud of her Jewish heritage. Doesn't really have any idea of how to refer to herself.
I raised that issue with him at one time, and he recognized that the use of the name was problematic, but it did not stop him.
The references to anti-semitism, if IIRC, came about monstly during threads where the issue of Israel arose. Given Retardo's lack of any sort of a filter, some of his posts were sufficiently over the top that the response was not unexpected.
I am pretty sure the thread Retardo was looking for in post 44 is here.
Retardo defending the sanity of the now-deceased funny man running North Korea
he spoke so glowingly of Hitch
