Bill James once wrote something about how very young players are always portrayed as all innocence and sweetness, then we end up hating them for betraying us once they get older. When he came up to the big leagues at 19, Dwight Gooden had this exact article written about him, right down to how he didn't drink and wouldn't drink.
The thing I've always been amused about is how many of the casual fans and writers have a warped view of what a superstar should be like behind the scenes.
